Jennifer maintains a broad-based legal practice, with a focus on construction defect and strata property disputes. She has advocacy experience in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the BC Civil Resolution Tribunal, and the BC Human Rights Tribunal. Jennifer has also represented clients in alternative dispute resolution processes. She works closely with her clients to devise pragmatic solutions tailored to their specific needs.
Representative Work
- Representing strata corporations in multi-party construction defect claims
- Enforcing 2-5-10 new home warranty claims involving building envelope, structural, mechanical, and electrical defects
- Representing and advising strata corporations and strata lot owners on a variety of Strata Property Act issues
- Drafting strata bylaws, rules, and resolutions
- Advising on privacy issues and compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act
Jennifer has co-authored legal articles on topics such as limitation periods and contributes to the CLEBC Strata Property Practice Manual – Chapter 9: Strata Corporation Finances.
Prior to joining Lesperance Mendes, Jennifer practiced at a real estate and business law firm, and at a tax and trusts law firm in downtown Vancouver. She has also worked in corporate law and financial services at a large national firm. Internationally, Jennifer worked with a global construction arbitration firm in Hong Kong and interned with a major financial institution’s legal department in Taiwan.
