Tara is a member of the strata property law group at Lesperance Mendes and focuses on a solicitor’s practice. She regular works with strata corporations, strata owners and property managers on a variety of strata property and governance matters including:
- Drafting and interpreting governance instruments such as bylaws, rules, and resolutions
- Financing of major repairs and special projects
- Implementing sections and/or types
- Bylaw enforcement
- Collecting strata fees, special levies, deductibles and other chargebacks
- Due diligence and review of contracts, easements and statutory rights-of-way
- Strata and small claims disputes before the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT)
- Privacy issues and Human Rights Code complaints
- Strata windups
Tara also assists with residential tenancy law, municipal law, and intellectual property law matters.
Prior to joining Lesperance Mendes as an associate, Tara practiced at a boutique firm specializing in strata property law, co-operative housing law, landlord and tenant law, and construction law in Vancouver, BC. She has appeared as legal counsel in the Provincial and Supreme Courts. In addition, Tara has represented clients in front of various tribunals on numerous occasions, including the Human Rights Tribunal and the Residential Tenancy Branch.
